Flying light flying light, please drink a cup of wine. Don’t know the height of the sky nor the thickness of the earth. Only feel the coldness and warmth of night and day, and to see the life fading away.
From Li He (Tang Dynasty)
Bitter Day is Short
This is the first few lines of Li He’s poem “Bitter Day is Short”, lamenting the passing of time and the boundary of life. Time flies, can you stop and drink this glass of wine. I don’t know how high the sky is and how thick the earth is. All I see is the sun and moon running through the summer and winter, wearing down life.
